THREE STEP SPARRING – SAMBO MATSOKI
WHY DO WE DO PRE ARRANGED SPARRING?
To develop   FOCUSDISTANCETIMING, as well as stances, blocking and attacking techniques.
 PROCEDURE FOR THREE STEP SPARRING  ( SAMBO MATSOKI )
  1. Face each other in Attention Stance.
  2. The person to attack makes a measure punch to opponents chest. Then returns to Attention Stance.
  3. On the command Junbi the person attacking takes his/her right leg back into Walking Stance, making left outer forearm low block and shouts KI-AP to show he/she is ready to attack. The defender on the same command makes normal Parallel Ready Stance and when ready to defend shouts KI-AP.
  4. Attacker steps forward three times punching centre and shoulder high of your opponent. You MUST take your time.
  5. Defender when blocking you MUST block to the forearm of your opponent and your other fist comes back to the hip.

When you do your counter you shout KI-AP to show you have finished.

  1. When the person who has been defending has finished the attacker steps back into Ready Stance, the defender steps forward into Ready Stance,.reverse the roles and start again.
THREE STEP SPARRING 1 TO 4
The Attacker always starts in Left Walking Stance, Low Section Outer Forearm Block. Steps forward in Walking Stance Middle Section Obverse Punch x 3.The Defender always starts in  Parallel Ready Stance – Defences are:

  1. RIGHT LEG BACK WALKING STANCE MAKING LEFT INNER FOREARM BLOCK, LEFT LEG BACK SAME BLOCK OPPOSITE HAND, RIGHT LEG BACK SAME AS FIRST, COUNTER – REVERSE PUNCH WITH LEFT HAND.
  1. LEFT LEG BACK “L” STANCE MAKING RIGHT INNER FOREARM BLOCK, RIGHT LEG BACK SAME BLOCK OPPOSITE HAND, LEFT LEG BACK SAME AS FIRST, COUNTER – STEP ROUND TO BACK OF OPPONENT KNIFE HAND SIDE STRIKE IN “L” STANCE.
  1. LEFT LEG BACK “L” STANCE MAKING RIGHT INWARD MOVING OUTER FOREARM BLOCK, RIGHT LEG BACK SAME BLOCK OPPOSITE HAND, LEFT LEG BACK SAME AS FIRST, COUNTER – FRONT BACK FIST STRIKE.
  1. ALL STANCES & BLOCKS EXACTLY SAME AS NUMBER 2, COUNTER – STEP ROUND INTO SITTING STANCE MEASURE PUNCH THEN DOUBLE PUNCH TO OUTSIDE OF OPPONENT.
